Komponiert wurde die Suite am Schlagzeug, jedoch mit einem grossen und einzigartien Setup Wechsel. Die Bass Drum als üblicher Hauptbestandteil des Schlagzeuges und mit dem rechten Fuss gespielt wurde bewusst weggelassen und mit einer zweiten Hi Hat ersetzt. Eingeübte Schlagabfolgen funktionierten somit nicht mehr. Dafür suchte ich neue Wege und Orchestrationen um mich mit diesem Setup neuartig auszudrücken. Mit der Zeit gelang ich zur Erkenntnis, dass die Bass Drum für die Musik tatsächlich unverzichtbar ist. Entstanden ist ein perkussives Werk, welches die Dance- und Ambientorgane höher schlagen lässt und den Fokus auf den Ryhthmus vollumfänglich aufblühen lässt.\n\nAus den Liner Notes: „I asked myself if it was possible to make interesting music in a percussive environment without the punchy low frequencies of the bass drum. During the composition process, I realized that leaving out the bass drum would not work for me. The bass drum is essential, indispensable and binds the drums together into a solid unit. Based on this realization, I composed an entire suite in four movements for drums and percussion without the bass drum in my setup, knowing that I would later add the powerful pulse of the low frequency to the sparkling textures of the upper compositional register. This led to new ways of playing drums and thinking about music. Diese schloss er mit dem Master of Arts in Music Pedagogy (Minor Composition) ab und erreichte mit seiner Band beim Diplomkonzert die Bestnote. Es folgten Weiterbildungen im Ausland; unter anderem am Drummers Collective in New York. Gregor Lisser wirkte bei zahlreichen Projekten mit. Er ist Schlagzeuger und Komponist der Jazz-Rock-Band «pommelHORSE», die 2013 durch Pro Helvetia gefördert wurde und welche eine Konzerttournee durch Indien und Europa führte.\nGregor Lisser will in seinem neuen Projekt «Gregor Lisser Oktett» nicht nur Jazz und Klassik verbinden, sondern als Genres gleichberechtigt zur Geltung bringen. Komposition und Improvisation sollen sich gegenseitig stärken und die beiden Pole sichtbar machen. Gregor Lissers Anspruch ist, professionell mit diplomierten Spitzenmusikern zu arbeiten und von grösseren Klassik- und Jazz-Veranstaltern gebucht zu werden. Überzeugend wirkt auch sein Ansatz, damit eine künstlerisch eigenständige Formation zu entwickeln, die das Ziel hat, heutige aktuelle Musik aus unterschiedlichen Genres zu verbinden und an ein junges Publikum zu gelangen, das bisher weder mit Klassik noch mit Jazz etwas am Hut hat.\n[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]\n
